The Women's Network is proud to sponsor our annual Luminarias Evening on Saturday, December 14th.
Please check your puka boxes in mid-November for an Order Card and more information. You can also order online.
The tradition of Luminarias came from Mexico and was religious in origin. However, Luminarias has become a secular holiday tradition offering serenity and welcoming elements. The tranquility and hopefulness of light in the darkness have led many national charities to embrace Luminarias in their fundraising efforts.
The Women's Network of Jacksonville Golf & Country Club organizes this enchanting wonderland every season; this year is no exception. Since 1993, volunteers, many being students, have placed sand-filled paper bags along our streets and lit the votive candles inside. The Women's Network is a 501c7 charitable organization whose members include women who live in the neighborhood and women who do not live in the neighborhood, but are members of the club. The Women's Network purchases Luminaria kits assembled by Pine Castle, an organization they have partnered with for many years. Pine Castle is a non-profit organization that aims to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through learning, working, and connecting opportunities.
Funds from Luminarias are used to support charitable organizations and worthy causes.
In addition to the traditional methods of payments of charging your Club account or check, you can also purchase your Luminaria kits using Zelle (WomensNetworkJGCC@outlook.com). Please scroll down this page for details about pickup times, volunteer opportunities, and purchasing kits. These kits can also be purchased from our online Store and delivered by your Block Captain.
