Community, Caring, and Sharing
The end of the 2020-21 season is finally here! In a year where not a lot was going on, the Women’s Network Board was hard at work this past year. As I stated in my previous message, since the pandemic began, the Women’s Network distributed $11,000 to eight different charities in the greater Jacksonville community. I’m proud of the work this Board did the past year.
We are excited about our Happy Hour Fiesta on Tuesday, May 4! Many of you plan to attend, and we look forward to seeing everyone.
Since we didn’t have a closing Annual Meeting this year, we will send an email to all WN members from Survey Monkey in about a week. On this survey, you’ll be asked to approve the Slate of Officers for the Executive Committee and the change to the By-Laws wording to return to aligning our Membership year back with our Fiscal Year (June 1-May 31). It only takes a minute to vote, so please fill this out when you receive it.
As we look toward our 2021-22 season, we have a lot of ideas for events! We want to hear from you, too. What are some events you would like to see next season? We have had a lot of younger ladies join these past few months. What do you want to see with the Clubs or other events? What kinds of events with children?
We have a new Club to begin the new season! If you haven’t signed up for the Photography Club yet, please email Danielle Ramey at ramey.danielle.N@gmail.com to be added to her email list! We’d love to introduce other clubs, so please give us your suggestions.
Our season officially begins on June 1st. However, the Board doesn’t meet again until August, and there will be no newsletter until August. Clubs are free to meet in June and July! Please take pictures, and we’ll be sure to post them in our August newsletter and here on our website.
After the voting, I will be back in touch to announce our new slate of Officers for the 2021-22 season. Have a wonderful Summer!
President, Women’s Network of JGCC
The Women's Network of Jacksonville Golf & Country Club was formed in 1992 by a small group of women who wanted to help their new neighbors feel welcome. Our members enjoy numerous clubs that offer something for a variety of interests. We also develop projects to improve our own neighborhood and contribute to many charities in the greater Jacksonville community.
From our spirited Book Club discussions to the competitive Trivia Club outings, there is certainly a club that will be of interest to you. Several of our clubs have been in place for years and others just started. We strive to keep our clubs reflective of the interests and demographics across our membership. We hope we have something for you, and we’re always open to new suggestions!
When you look around our beautiful neighborhood, you see many improvements that were provided by the Women's Network. From the lighted signs at both gate entrances to the impressive fountain on the 18th hole, you see the contributions from the Women’s Network.
Additionally, across the greater Jacksonville area, we are active participants in charitable giving supporting many organizations. These activities include building Habitat for Humanity homes, hosting collegiate athletes, contributing to cancer research, and helping schools in need. We believe our focus on issues that are important to women and families help make a difference in our community.
If you're new to the neighborhood and want to make new friends, please consider joining the Women's Network. Even if you've lived in the neighborhood for years or used to be a member, we'd love to have you back!
