Community, Caring, and Sharing
Thank you to everyone who voted to approve our Slate of Executive Officers and to change the wording in our By-Laws. We are happy to announce that both of these items passed. I am privileged to serve another year as President, along with Vickie Cobb as Vice President, and Cindy Phillips as Treasurer. Carol Morin has joined as our new Secretary. She has served on the Board previously, and we welcome her back. I want to take this opportunity to thank Tammy Carnahan for her work on the Executive Board and as the Secretary this past year.
I would also like to announce the following Committee changes for the New Membership Year:
Two new Co-Chairs for the Book Club - Teresa Denton and Kathleen Johnson! Thank you to both of you for volunteering. Thank you also to Sandy Maier for all of her work as the Book Club Chairwoman. Sandy stayed on the Board an additional year to help us keep this busy club functioning. Thank you also to Linda Plummer for organizing the Zoom meetings that allowed this Club to meet.
A new Chairwoman for the Welcoming Committee - Laurie Geismar! Thank you to Laurie for volunteering, and I know you will be an excellent addition to the Board as well. Thank you to Tracy Navarro for her work in reviving the Welcoming Committee and making our new residents feel at home.
Returning to the Board as the co-Chairwomen of the Caring Committee are Diana Bucher and Amy Stapleton. I look forward to working with you both in this upcoming season.
The new Chairwoman for the Photography Club is Danielle Ramey, and if you haven’t signed up for this Club yet, please consider it. Danielle has already taught me some new things about my old Nikon camera!
Finally, this past year was challenging and we are all looking forward to a new and improved season. Clubs will be meeting again and activities will be back to normal! Though the Women’s Network as a whole does not meet during the summer months (June and July), clubs are free to meet if they choose. Please contact the Club Chairwoman if you have any questions about what a particular club is doing.
Looking forward to next season, please save the date for Tuesday, September 14th for our Opening Dinner! We will be back in touch in a couple of months. Enjoy your summer with family and friends!
The Women's Network of Jacksonville Golf & Country Club was formed in 1992 by a small group of women who wanted to help their new neighbors feel welcome. Our members enjoy numerous clubs that offer something for a variety of interests. We also develop projects to improve our own neighborhood and contribute to many charities in the greater Jacksonville community.
From our spirited Book Club discussions to the competitive Trivia Club outings, there is certainly a club that will be of interest to you. Several of our clubs have been in place for years and others just started. We strive to keep our clubs reflective of the interests and demographics across our membership. We hope we have something for you, and we’re always open to new suggestions!
When you look around our beautiful neighborhood, you see many improvements that were provided by the Women's Network. From the lighted signs at both gate entrances to the impressive fountain on the 18th hole, you see the contributions from the Women’s Network.
Additionally, across the greater Jacksonville area, we are active participants in charitable giving supporting many organizations. These activities include building Habitat for Humanity homes, hosting collegiate athletes, contributing to cancer research, and helping schools in need. We believe our focus on issues that are important to women and families help make a difference in our community.
If you're new to the neighborhood and want to make new friends, please consider joining the Women's Network. Even if you've lived in the neighborhood for years or used to be a member, we'd love to have you back!
